How to set up your SIP Account

On starting SessionTalk for the first time you will be presented with the create SIP account screen. If your provider is listed tap on the blue arrow next to your provider then fill in your username and password, tap 'Save' and your account is ready. if your provider is not listed tap on the Generic SIP row as shown. We will use VoipTalk for this example.

In the Edit Account screen, tapping on any of the field rows will bring up the keyboard. Use the title field to enter the name of your provider, you can enter anything you like here however. Then fill in the username, password and domain fields. Note that the password will not be visible after typing so be careful as an incorrect password will mean you will be unable to register with your provider. Tap 'Done' to dismiss the keyboard.

The Port field defaults to 5060. This is the port that is used for SIP signalling when transporting over UDP or TCP. If your provider does not require you to set up a Proxy then you are done setting up your account.Tap 'Save' at the top of the screen. You are now ready to make and receive calls. With Voiptalk we also need to specify a Proxy. Tap on the 'Advanced' row. This will bring up a screen with more settings.

In the Advanced setting screen tap on the Proxy Address field and enter the proxy server address for your provider. For Voiptalk this nat.voiptalk.org. Sometimes the Proxy port needs changing from the default 5060. In this case we will leave it as it is. We are now finished setting up the Voiptalk account. Tap the 'Create Account' back button to return to the previous screen and then save your settings.

The green box with the tick indicates that Voiptalk is the currently selected SIP account. So this account will be used to make and receive calls. As there is only one account it is automatically made active. To add another account touch the '+' button in the nav bar and go through the same process just described with Voiptalk

Tapping the keypad button on the tab bar will show the Dialler. As seen in the screenshot the text typed into the Title field in the create account screen appears on the left hand side of the number panel. This lets you know which provider you are registered with.
The text in the center of the number panel shows whether you are connected via a WiFi network or 3G/EDGE. The SessionTalk client will automatically detect which network is available and attempt to register. If both WiFI and 3G are available then the client will always connect via WiFi.
If you successfully register with your provider you'll get the green tick above. You are now ready to make calls.
If you have entered a Voicemail number in the Advanced SIP settings menu you can dial your voicemail by tapping the voicemail button in the bottom left corner
